Hosted in PETAL studio, in Conway Mill, come and learn how to illustrate plants, flowers and natural forms on this 10 week Botanical Illustration Course, and kick start your creativity for 2017...

During this evening class, we will focus on fundamental aspects and principles of drawing and observation - from line, tone, shape and colour, right through to developing your own style of drawing and beginning to refine a personal illustrative voice.

Modern Botanical Illustration is a passion of mine, and something I have honed during a decade-plus of professional practice. I love passing on the skills, tips and techniques that can help you capture and record details in nature, which is a truly rewarding pastime.

During this class, we will focus on pencil, fine-line pen and watercolour as our primary mediums, but I encourage you to bring any additional materials you feel drawn to as the weeks progress, and I will guide you with their use!

This class is suitable for both novice artists (complete beginners welcome!), and more experienced artists & designers, as a leisure course - I will work one on one with everyone to help bring out your own skills and style, to create beautiful botanical drawings, with a modern, contemporary flare.

The purpose of this class is to leave feeling confident in your ability to sketch and capture the 'essence' of natural forms - you will learn how to use weight of line to convey gesture and movement. We will progress on to detail work, fine watercolour and pen-work techniques (lots of practice!) and developing your own style...

I will provide a material list near to the commencement date of the class, and will also offer materials for sale at the class. Some will be included!! Tea, Coffee & Biscuits are available throughout the class.

Classes kick off at 5.30 for 6 - and our studio building closes at 9pm, so we pack up around 8.30pm.

Class Commences Wednesday 22nd March - PETAL studio, 3rd Floor, Conway Mill (disabled access available) and runs until 24th May 2017.

The cost of this class is £200.00 - just £20 per week!
